Where in Ohio are we?
Mahoning County is considered part of Northeast Ohio (NEO). Youngstown and its surrounding townships are also known for being part of the Rust Belt, where the world's steel had been manufactured since the beginning of the 20th century and through the 1960s. Today, the Mahoning Valley continues to manufacture steel as part of the Shale Boom. New technologies of oil and gas extraction called deep-well horizontal fracking has brought significant growth to our valley. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and other high tech industries are also a focus in our work and education here in the place we call home. We are also less than one hour south of beautiful Lake Erie which drives much of our weather. The term Mahoning Valley also encompasses TRUMBULL COUNTY to the north and COLUMBIANA COUNTY to the south. Western Pennsylvania is our close neighbor just over the border to the east.
