“Mahoning County Children Services, in partnership with the community, is committed to assuming a leadership role in protecting children and preserving families.”
What We Do:
Mahoning County Children Services responsible for investigating all reports of abuse and/or neglect regarding children. We strive to preserve and strengthen the family unit whenever possible, always aware of the paramount need to protect the child.
We provide a full range of services to move families in crisis towards stability. Transportation, homemaker service, parenting classes, case management, foster and adoptive placement, and group home and residential care are some of the services provided by this agency. The agency also provides protective services for children up to the age of 18. Post adoption services are provided in addition to adoptive placement and home studies. This agency offers a complete range of child welfare services.
In the event that the family of origin cannot maintain a child, we provide substitute placement for that child. This placement is in the highest possible quality to ensure that the needs of the child are met.
The Children Services Department is partially funded by local levies and partially funded by State and Federal monies.
