      Litter Control

The Green Team has a simple message for every Mahoning County resident: please don't litter. Litter's negative impact on the environment we all share is obvious. But you should also be aware of the impact littering can have on you personally.

The phrase "There's no excuse for littering" is doubly true, because under Ohio law it doesn't matter if it's the first time you've ever littered in your life, or even if your littering was unintentional or accidental. If you're caught, you'll be charged... and if you're convicted, you'll face a fine and possibly jail time as well.

And remember that littering doesn't just mean throwing trash out of a car window. If a strong wind tips over your trash can at the curb and spills its contents, that's considered littering. Businesses have a responsibility to ensure that materials don't blow off their property from a loading dock or a dumpster. Both businesses and individuals must secure items they're transporting by truck or other vehicle, so that they don't escape containment and blow away.
