Mission Statement:

“The mission of the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities is to provide ongoing programs, services and supports which assist eligible individuals with mental retardation and development disabilities in choosing and achieving a life of increasing capability to live and work in the community to reach their full potential as members of society.”

What We Do:

The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD), established in 1967 by Senate Bill 169, exists to provide comprehensive services to eligible individuals.

The Board provides a wide variety of services to approximately 1,200 Mahoning County citizens with mental retardation and development disabilities. Since the Board is a tax supported agency, services are provided to eligible individuals at no cost.

The Board owns and operates seven (7) facilities in Mahoning County: Bev MASCO and Meshel MASCO, in Boardman; Leonard Kirtz School, the Board’s Administrative Offices, Centre @ Javit Court, Community Services, and the Transportation Maintenance Facility, all located in Austintown.

Programs and services provided on a daily basis by the Board include:

  • Contract Residential Services 

Anyone wishing to determine eligibility for Board services may do so by making a service referral to the Community Services Department by calling (330) 797-2925. Emergency services referrals may be made by calling Help Hotline at (330) 747-2696.

The Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities is required annually to provide each of its consumers with a copy of the client Rights and Board's Procedure for Administrative Resolution of Complaints. These documents are provided to consumers at their annual planning meeting. Additional copies may be obtained at the MCBDD Administrative office or by calling 330-797-2925.
