Profiles in Courage
BRAD (Drug Court Client 2001-2002)
"My time in drug court saved my life. I cannot be more grateful for a program or to Judge Durkin and the drug court team. My life was in shambles. I lived only for the drug. My personal, professional and spiritual life was bankrupt. I was on the verge of losing everything and everyone I cared about."
Then I got talked into going into the drug court program. At first I was resistant and thought it was a waste. As time went on, I realized what was wrong with me. I was an addict, hooked on the very pain pills that were legally prescribed to me for a back injury. Oxycontin is a very powerful and dangerous drug. I became so addicted that I eventually began forging prescriptions, which is how I caught my case and ended up in drug court.
My time in drug court opened my eyes and now I have a whole new way of living. I am very active in the 12 step fellowship and have over four years of sobriety. My relationship with my family has never been stronger and my job is going great.
"The Mahoning County Drug Court began a transformation in me that continues to this day. I cannot be more grateful. Thank you for giving me my life back."
