“To ensure that all medical services follow the minimal standards established by the state of Ohio and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and all policies and procedures set forth in these standards.”
What We Do:
Provide for a constitutional, legal, and professional standard of medical care to the inmates at the Mahoning County Justice Center.
The medical services have been a contracted medical service since opening the Justice Center in April, 1996. The contract has been awarded to the lowest, best, and most responsive bidder. The present contractor is Prison Health Services Inc.. Mr. Knight represents the Board of Mahoning County Commissioners and the Mahoning County Sheriff as the contract monitor for the operations and administrative direction of the Health Care Program.
Jail Inmates benefit from our services in receiving direct medical care. The citizens of Mahoning County benefit as well in the prevention of inmates returning to the community with untreated ,contagious, and/or communicable diseases.
Revenue Source:
The Jail Medical Department is fully funded by the General Fund.
Current number of employees: 4 full-time RN's and 9 LPN's , 1 file clerk, 2 Part-time Physicians, 1 Part-time Dentist, 1 Part-time Psychiatrist. Staffing varies according to number of inmates. Fully staffed at this time.
