Mission Statement:
“In conformity with the Board of Mahoning County Commissioners' mission, Special Projects will improve county government’s capacity to respond more effectively to the needs of residents by increasing Federal and State revenue for our Community by expanding public and private partnerships, coordinating existing resources and developing programs and policies.”
What We Do:
The Board of Mahoning County Commissioners' Special Projects Office works to increase the amount of grant dollars awarded in Mahoning County. You are invited to contact the office whenever you require assistance in obtaining local, State and Federal grant dollars that meet the priority needs of your community. This assistance might take the form of facilitating a strategic planning effort, conducting workshops on the development of a competitive grant application, researching and distributing potential sources of funding, completing the required application for social services, economic development or environmental priorities, and implementation and fiscal management of the grant, if awarded.
The Board of Mahoning County Commissioners Special Projects Office is under the direct supervision of our three county commissioners.
The Board of Mahoning County Commissioners' Special Projects Office conducts strategic planning efforts and workshops toward the development of competitive grant applications, researches and distributes local, state and federal grant applications throughout the community, completes grant applications to meet identified community priorities in workforce development, human services, environment, and infrastructure, and can coordinate the implementation and management of the fiscal requirements of the grant, if awarded.
The Fair Housing Office, located within the Special Projects Office, offers individuals who have experienced discrimination in renting or buying a residence an opportunity to report it to the State of Ohio.
