In addition to the roughy 500 support tickets that DP resolves MONTHLY, DP is always working on the "Bigger Picture" for the many Mahoning County Departments and Agencies that it supports!

Current Projects and Plans for 2007- Just a sampling of what the Data Processing Team is doing for Mahoning County!

ATT MDA renegotiation - Building on the MDA that was signed on March of 2006 with ATT, DP will renegotiate this County-wide Master Discount Agreement contract with ATT to leverage new technologies that have been implemented in 06 and 07.  Most notably is the migration away from Centrex based lines to ISDN primes at our core locations.

Phone Switch Upgrades - DP is working on the convergence of the county's Voice and Data onto the same wire by using IP between phone nodes.  Benefits include lower costs by using less leased lines, Easier Administration of Phone Systems, and standardization of systems county-wide.  

GIS and e911 Software upgrades - DP is working with the GIS and e911/EMA departments to upgrade their software to improve collaboration between these two service-oriented departments at the county.  Benefits include Phase II mapping for Cellular wireless calls, Database synchronizations between these departments, and better overall service for these departments to share data

Server Virtualization - DP has been working with Dell on an assessment of our systems to find the best candidates for server virtualization.  Benefits include lower TCO, more efficient use of power/cooling, simplified Disaster Recovery, and easier administration of these systems.
