Boys Council

The Council aims to promote males natural strengths and to increase their options of being a successful male in today’s world.  The Council challenges myths about how to be a “real man”.  It engages males in activities, dialogue and self-expression to question stereotypes while increasing their emotional and social literacy by promoting valuable relationships with peers and adults.

Boys Council is held within multiple Mahoning County school districts for grades 5 through 12 and runs for 8 weeks.  Each group last for 1 hour and is facilitated by a trainer who uses an evidence-based curriculum.  There is a pre and posttest to develop which sections are specifically needed for each group.

Males need a gender-specific group program to have a safe, protected and focused place to address an array of harsh realities and to create healthy options for growing up male today.
