Parents or guardians of students in the Justice Center are provided a copy of the visitation schedule and the Parent Handbook. A registry documents the visitor’s name, address, and relationship to the student. Attorneys and their representatives, Mahoning County Children’s Services caseworkers, and other authorized agency representatives may visit the students. Authorized visitors must have current, authorized identification, and be listed in the student’s file.
Authorized visitors include parents, stepparents, legal guardians, and grandparents. Attorney of record and/or representatives, contract professionals, and law enforcement/prosecutor investigators may meet with the student. There is no time limit for attorney or the designated representatives visits
Special visits are scheduled daily for family members by appointment only and must be approved by the Justice Center Administrator or Chief Supervisor.
No purses, wallets, cell phones, or personal items may be brought into the Detention Center.
Lockers are available to hang coats and hats.
Visits may be suspended if there is a risk to the safety and security of other students, staff and the facility.
Absolutely no items of any kind can be given to a child at visitation. Any visitor who passes cigarettes, matches/lighters, money, or any other contraband to a child may jeopardize his/her visitation privileges and could be subject to criminal prosecution.
Introduction of drugs, firearms, weapons, or other contraband will be met with prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
