Poland 36" Interceptor Rehabilitation Improvement #471

Work began on May 4, 2009. The contractor is in the early stages of construction. Currently they are setting up the by-pass pumping equipment. The actual cleaning and prep-work of the sewer line began Monday May 18, 2009. Projected completion date is August 3, 2009.

Sandy Drive Relief Sewer Improvement #464
  • New Middletown
  • Contractor - Rudzik Excavating
  • Construction Estimate - $113,668
  • Main Source of funding - Ohio Public Works Commission 0% interest 20 year loan
Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday May 26, 2009. This relief sewer will eliminate basement flooding in the Sandy Drive area by adding an additional main sewer line to the affected area. Project completion date is August 24, 2009.

South Struthers Interceptor Sewer Improvement #467
  • Poland Township
  • Engineer - MS Consultants
  • Project estimate is $1,200,000
  • Expected bid date is July 22, 2009
  • Main Source of funding - 75% grant from the Army Corps of Engineers
The major objective of this project is to provide an alternate route for flows emanating from Poland Township to the Waste Water Plant on Struthers Road. In addition to reliving problems on the existing line, new areas will now have access to sewer service and thus be able to remove pollution from existing septic systems as well as provide new development opportunities along the projects path. Some streets involved are Struthers-Arrell Smith Road, Lowellville Road to 224, and from Struthers Road west on 224 approximately 2,000 feet in the Park Place area. Plans for Phase 1 are 95% complete. Plans for Phase 2 are 80% complete.

Environmental Site Assessment is completed and submitted for approval.
