You can avoid points on your license with the Traffic Safety Program!
If you complete the Traffic Safety Program (TSP), your case will be dismissed. This means you won't get points on your license. Too many points means your license can be suspended, and having any points at all may cause your insurance rates to go up.
You are eligible for the Traffic Safety Program if:
What steps do I take to participate in the Traffic Safety Program?
1. Mail or deliver all of the following to the Mahoning County Court before your scheduled court date:
a. This form with your plea, signature, and contact info below.
b. Proof of auto liability insurance covering the time you were cited.
c. Payment of all fines and court costs for all of the offenses. If you pay online (https://ecourts.mahoningcountyoh.gov), make sure to follow all relevant instructions on the site before paying your ticket.
If you complete this step and the Court determines that you are ineligible for the program, the Clerk will notify you and schedule a new court date for you. If that happens, any money you have paid to the Court will be held as a bond until the case is finished.
2. Go to SafeDriverOnline.com to register for the online course. It costs $24.95 and takes about two hours to complete. You can use a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can do the program all at once, or come back and pick up where you left off. Questions? Check out the FAQ at SafeDriverOnline.com. You can also reach Safe Driver Online at 888.372.SAFE (7233), or by email for the fastest response: [email protected]
3. Complete the course within 60 days of your scheduled court date. Once you have completed the program, Safe Driver Online will electronically notify the Mahoning County Court that you have completed the program. If you don't complete the program on time, the Court will notify the Ohio BMV of your guilty or no-contest plea, and the BMV will most likely put points on your license.
What else should I know?
Application
By signing below, you certify that 1) you are eligible for the TSP; 2) you are willing to waive your right to appear at the Court to contest the traffic charges in your case; and 3) you understand and accept the requirements of the TSP.
My plea of no contest is an admission that the facts on my traffic ticket are true, and I understand that the Court will find me guilty based on that admission.
